Monday afternoon we were ushered home from classes early with the promise of snow.
As a native North Carolinian, I was skeptical at best, but mother nature did not disappoint! In fact, she got a little carried away.
I ended up missing half of my classes on Monday, having class canceled and my office closed Tuesday, was unable to get to my classes Wednesday (I’ll explain below), and am once more unable to get to work today. It started out fun, especially since Danny had made a long-standing promise to me that he would walk to go get waffles if we had a snow day this year. That was three days ago and now the cabin fever is REAL! I am crossing my fingers to be able to make it to work tomorrow.
In an attempt to leave the house yesterday I ended up getting my car stuck at the bottom of a not-even-so-steep driveway and trying to get back up has turned out to be about as successful as driving up a glacier. Danny tried to dig me out with a garden shovel (typical, unprepared southerners), but no luck.
So instead, we’re making the best of our new life as shut-ins, starting with the best way we know how to get out of the house, walking the dogs!
I actually ended up unexpectedly stuck at my boyfriends house (read, I was super unprepared for the weather), and definitely was having to get crafty with ways to stay warm. The jacket is Danny’s men’s jacket, but I ended up really liking the way it looked. As soon as I see snow flakes fall, I think over-sized everything becomes a good idea. And in this case, I don’t think I was wrong! I did not include a link to the scarf because Danny’s very-talented mom knit it for me. I get compliments on it all the time!
We topped off our snow day with hot chocolates on the walk home from dinner so we could cheers to a snow day well spent.
How have ya’ll been making the most of these freezing past few days?
