Ya’ll KNOW I couldn’t pass up a chance to celebrate national margarita day. And since the Oscar’s are on, tonight is set up to be quite the celebration indeed. I plan to whip up a batch of these and kick back with my roommates to critique every last dress that walks down the red carpet.
As much as I love a classic margarita, I felt like mixing it up today. Inspired by all the hot tea I’ve been guzzling this week, I thought honey and lemon would be just the subtle change to adapt the margarita into a wintertime treat.
Mixing up a cocktail is easier than it looks. Once you’ve made a batch of these, it may make you think twice before automatically reaching for the go-to bottle of wine on your next girls night in.
To make 4 margaritas you’ll need:
1 cup of fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/4 cup honey (or more to taste)
1/3 cup Grand Marnier
4 shots tequila (3/4 cup)
1 cups of crushed ice
Combine all of the ingredients in a pitcher, stir it all up very well, and then pour among four margarita glasses (Or among two and come back for seconds 😉 )
To rim my glasses, I put about a teaspoon of honey on a plate and ran the rim of the glass through the honey. Then, using the same plate, I combined kosher salt and yellow decorating sugar (like you use for baking). I took the honey rimmed glasses and twirled them through the salt mixture. This is all totally optional. The margaritas are completely delicious on their own.
Cheers to cocktails I don’t have to leave my house for! (and please excuse my terrible looking hair!)
